I heart Portland

I don't mean to be a tease, but today I am. On friday, I promised a big reveal of our revamped kitchen table. Well, I was a little --okay hugely -- over-ambitious. The project took a left turn when I realized the table was coated in not one or two, but FOUR layers of paint. That lovely realization came at minute 15 of work. 

In between applying paint remover, waiting for it to *work,* scraping and sanding, I took some pictures showcasing the brilliance of Portland this time of year. Because, my friends, it was truly brilliant this weekend.

 

  

So many blooms! Which are especially beautiful on a 60 degree (maybe it was even 65?) day at the beginning March.

 

I need to start a collection of all the amazing-colored doors I find on my little adventures around town. People are so creative!

  

I wanted to take this dog home. Don't worry, my best friend drug (dragged?!) me away before I could. Such a cute dog though! You know how some people long for babies? Currently, I'm longing for a dog.

face lift

Happy Friday!

Thought I'd give you a quick peak of what I'm working on this weekend. I love refinishing furniture. And a large pile of furniture that needs to be painted is quickly accumulating at our house. So this weekend, this guy is getting a face lift:

 

Our kitchen table! We bought it before we were even married. Almost two years later, isn't bad, right? Right?! 

My inspiration for the table?

 

This is lovely. My main goal is to have the table two-toned. So all the paint will come off the top and it'll be stained. The legs will be painted in a lovely creamy-white color.

On of the main reasons it's taken so long to get moving on this table is that Chris and I cannot agree on the legs. He loves the patina and would like me to not touch them. I like the patina okay, but it flakes off. And the table sits in the kitchen. Where we eat. And I have a fundamental problem with paint from who-knows-when potentially flaking into the food. So yeah. The legs are getting painted.
