{inspired} the non-inspired

Friends, do you ever have weeks like this? One minute (last week) I was completely on my game and then next moment (aka, this week) ... not so much. So, I thought I'd catch you up on what's been going on this week.

First, I completed a marathon!

We walked. It was my dad's idea ... a dream, of sorts. He's not a runner, but he's always wanted to complete a marathon. He's 64. So when he asked me to join him, how could I refuse? I was completely overconfident (cocky?) about the race, and totally didn't train. I just climbed the third highest peak in Oregon. How hard could walking 26.2 miles BE?

Friends. I died.

I had plans to take pictures along the route and share my adventure with you, but by about half way it became obvious that finishing was more important than pictures and it was taking all my concentration just to keep putting one foot in front of the other. I am definitely not as cool as the 80 year old woman who was participating in her 44th marathon.

So death by marathon + a horrible cold + really stressful, completely last minute work event / no prepared blog posts = a home in the making silence this week!

So I wanted to say hi! Tell me friends, what have you been up to lately??

  1. You and your dad are so cute. What a cool thing to do together! Congrats!

I'm actually really relieved by this post since things have been wicked stressful/overwhelming/ugh/crazy lately and it's nice to know other people have crazy lives! Sometimes blogland gives the impression that everyone sits at (spotless) home taking pictures (in good daylight) and drinking tea (expensive Kusmi tea) all day. Yeah...not my reality.

  2. Oh my word--so cool about the marathon. Way to go, girl! What a special memory for you and your Dad:) I'm just getting over a nasty cold myself...ugh...'tis the season, right? Hope you have a stress free weekend.

  3. that's inspiring. honestly, you are a sweet daughter to walk with your dad. seriously - your dad's a trooper.

  4. Aw! That's so sweet! Your dad seems really cool :)
I was wondering if you were doing okay since you hadn't posted this week. Congrats on the marathon and I hope you're feeling better!

  5. Good for you! Speedy recovery and enjoy the weekend!

  6. You go girl!!! How awesome to share such an occasion with your Dad! I think that 26 miles no matter how you do it probably requires some sort of training, even if it is just of the intellectual sort. That is quite a distance, walking or running it's a haul. Good for you to finish, thanks for keeping us posted on what you have been up to, I'm impressed!

  7. What an amazing thing to be able to share with your father! I did a blog post last Thursday all about being thankful for my dad and how lucky I am to have in my life. Feel free to head over and check it out! Missed you last week - looking forward to new blog posts soon!

Your comments make my day! Thanks for stopping by and sharing! :)
