{inspired} fall color palettes

Happy Monday all!

Today I think it's time for a look at some fall color palettes! For those of you who don't know, each season I take a look at an outfit I'm loving and translate that outfit's color palette into a comfortable and stylish room. Fall color palettes are by far my favorite -- I love both fall outfits choices and the rich amazing color schemes. Let's take a look.

Fall Color Palette #1

Fall Color Palette #2

So, tell me, which look is your favorite of the two? I am such a big fan of orange and navy, buuuuut, in this case I think I have to pick #1. I really love the color blocked sweater dress! :)

{inspired} spring color palettes

As you all know, every few months I take a look at fashion color trends and translate those colors in home decor. I’m always inspired by the “new” colors that come into stores each season and, of course, I’m always itching to update my home a  little (a pillow here, a ceramic figure there) to keep on-trend. Since we hit 80+ degrees in Portland last weekend, and it FINALLY feels like spring, it's about time to share my favorites of the season.

But, I have a little surprise for you today. I'm actually sharing my color picks over at Restored Style!

Kirsten is a fellow Portlander and is just all around talented and inspiring. She not only has a gorgeous home and stylish and fun blog, BUT just launched her own design services! Have you visited her before? Make sure you pop over today to say hi and check out my color picks.

{Inspired} Spring Color Palettes

I have to admit, a part of me actually enjoys that stores start stocking their spring lines right about now. I know some of you are still buried under snow/ice, and even if you aren't, it isn't exactly spring out there. But I'm tired of winter and spring catalogs are a nice reminder that this much anticipated season will arrive. Someday. :) My spring catalogs have been pouring in the past couple weeks, and I finally had the chance to sit down with them this weekend.

If you look into my closet right now, you'll find a wardrobe full of single-color garments. I very rarely bust out a pattern or multi-hued look. So, I was a little surprised by how much I like the spring florals this year! I was drawn to the interesting palettes that mixed bright pops of spring color with neutrals. Kinda how we aim to decorate, right? So I paired a few of my favorite pieces with great rooms to give you an idea of how you can pull fun spring palettes into your both look and your home! I think we all need a pop of color this time of year.

Palette #1. Yellow is pretty much my go-to *pop* color, and I really love how it subtly adds a fun touch to this dress.

Palette #2: These fun, bright colors are really grounded by the deep olive green that serves as a neutral here.

Palette #3: This teal/green color is so fun and fresh! I love it paired with yellow (of course), but I can also see it going great with pinks and reds.

I'll definitely be branching out this spring. What is YOUR favorite color palette right now?

{inspire} House Color Palette

Happy Friday friends!

After looking through my clipping files this week, I pulled together a palette of colors I'd like to see consistently through our house. Our house, really, is pretty tiny. I'm becoming increasingly aware of how straying from a palette can really break rooms up and make them feel disjointed.

So, I've pulled together a solid range of neutrals, with some fun pops of color to add a little dimension to each space.

Honestly, I get a little freaked at the thought of bright colors.  But I love how other houses look when they're used - correctly - and want to take some risks moving forward. I'll keep a neutral base of blues (yep, that's working out to be a great neutral for me), browns and greys. And as pops of color, I'd like to add in some yellows, red-oranges and oranges. I love these three colors. They just make me smile. I would also like to play around with a darker blue/turquoise color. I think it'll add a little depth to the light blue neutral.

A couple recent additions to our home that both highlight and confirm my palette are this adorable tea towel ...

... And this new letterpress.

Both have the bright pops of color I'm looking for ... and are just so cute! I like having a color palette nailed down. We have a couple rooms we're looking at sprucing up this year and this will make my life so much easier.

What are your favorite colors lately? Do you lean toward the amazing jewel tones out this season? Do you prefer to stay in neutral territory?

Have a great weekend!

Update: I'm linking up to Samantha's Fab Friend Friday. It's a clever way to meet new bloggers. Hop on over and say hi! :)

{renovate} side tables -- help!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I have a design dilemma for you guys today.

This is what our living room looks like as of five minutes ago. Yep, it's a mess. I like to mix things up after Christmas, and I'm still trying to figure out what should go where. Disregard all the clutter. I have a color problem. Besides the obvious: my side tables are two different colors :).

See, I have the white coffee table, and the black bookshelf. Then I have the blue side table on the right. It's been blue since my last apartment, where the walls were white. I've been meaning to paint it since I moved in, I just have no idea what color. Then we bought the white one for the left side, and now I have two tables and no. paint. ideas.

This is where you come in! I'm going to let YOU choose which color to paint my side tables. I have new lamps and I want to get this project rolling.

 First choice: grey.

 Next choice: black.
Last choice: white.

Alternately, I could strip all the paint off both and stain them a natural color.

What do you think? I'm worried about there being: too much white. Too much black. Too many different *wood* colors. See why I'm seeking your help?!

Let me know which color you prefer OR suggest a different color. Should I go wild and crazy?!
